Junior Golf at Barbados Golf Club

Since 2001 many young golfers have honed their game at Barbados Golf Club under the tutorship of the club professional. Several of these youngsters have gone on to represent Barbados in the Junior Caribbean Championships as well as participating in international tournaments further afield. Now with the construction of our own fully equipped practice range completed in 2010, BGC plans to expose hundreds of school children to the game of golf over the next five years.
Summer Programme
During July and August of 2011 the National Sports Council added golf the range of sports training being offered to the school children of Barbados. With the assistance and sponsorship of Banks - Plus and Bert's Barbados, some fifty kids drawn from various schools were exposed to the game of golf at BGC.
The coaches reported that this summer programme was a success and some of the students have been selected for further training. Plans are already in train for the 2012 Junior Summer Programme.
Junior International Tournament
During the next year, plans for the reintroduction of the Junior International Tournament will be finalized. This tournament will attract young players of all skill levels from across the Caribbean to play at BGC.
